Name: Dimitri Renaud Nicknames: Position: Zener School French Teacher and Psychometry instructor, freelance consultant for police and other government institutions. Age: 32 Birthday: le 6 janvier Height: 6'2" Weight: 200 Hair Colour: blond, lighter in the summer, darker in the winter Eye Colour: hazel Marks: freckle on the right side of his face by his nose
Appearance: Dimitri has all the looks of a super model with a square jaw, piercing blue eyes, and an impressive physique. He presents a rather imposing figure but instead of being the type of person who tones and perfects his body to be tough, he works out strictly for vanity's sake. Appearances are an ideal he holds in importance - not paramount, certainly, but definitely in his top five of worries and concerns. He's the type of man who always seems to look well put together and groomed even as soon as he gets out of bed in the morning.
Fashion is something he pays attention to since it fits in well with the persona he works so hard to maintain. A great deal of his salary goes towards clothes, spa treatments, manicures, pedicures and the like.
Psychic Ability: Psychometry
Expanded abilities: Like all Psychometrists, when Dimitri comes in contact with an object, either animate or inanimate, he is able to garner histories and emotions from said objects. When non living things are concerned, he can track the story of its creation from the moment it was put together or formed and everyone that handled it as well as any strong emotions imbued on the object by its owners (like a family heirloom, a murder weapon, or a wedding ring). As far as people, animals, and plants are concerned, he is able to read the emotions and desires of the contact. Being highly skilled in the art he can pick and choose what he views and from what time period he desires. The time where he had to wear gloves to keep himself from any unwanted barrage of information is long since past.
Limitations: Even though he's an old pro, if for some reason Dimitri looses his concentration he can find it more difficult to control his ability, such as during really passionate sex, when he's drunk, or has completely lost it although he hardly ever finds himself in those kinds of situations. Dimitri, never satisfied with the extent of his own abilities, is currently working on focusing on multiple histories at once. For example, if he has a clock in his hand that he wants to read, he is trying to follow the history of as many of the clock's different parts as he can. He's also theoretically deduced that, since time is all relative, he should be able to see into an object or person's future by touch but so far he hasn't had much luck with that.
Personality: Dimitri is, above all very, very stereotypically French. He is passionate, amorous, enjoys lots of good food, thinks you should have wine with every meal, and stops every day for a snack of bread and chocolate. He is also extremely patriotic to his homeland and refuses to convert his citizenship from France to the United States even though he's been working there for almost a decade. He honestly believes that all truly educated people should speak at least a little bit of French.
Dimitri has a habit of being kind of a "dog". He'll date multiple people at the same time (not at the same time but he's not monogamous) and keeps multiple sexual partners. He can also be a little impatient, especially when it comes to people he's romantically interested in.
He enjoys fighting, loudly, and often in public places. While his accent is already pretty thick when he really gets worked up he can be near impossible to understand and more often than not reverts to shouting in French.
Privacy is something he values and while he welcomes students into his office whenever they need help or have questions or problems, his door is usually closed. School is something Mr. Renaud believes should be taken seriously and isn't a place to have fun. Although he isn't ridiculously strict, he doesn't allow as much goofing off in his classes as some of the other teachers and doesn't tolerate students who don't pay attention or who don't approach the subject seriously.
Strengths: His skill in Psychometry is pretty admirable. He also has a strong sense of justice and code of ethics he lives by (his morals regarding intimate relations are obviously a little lax). He is in extremely good shape and knows how to use his body to protect himself and others without being violent. Weaknesses: Dimitri is extremely vain to the point where it can be a little ridiculous at times. He's a little bit obsessive about staving off the signs of old age (not that he has too many of those to worry about at only 32). He has a penchant for getting a little too involved in emotional matters and has a tendency to get wrapped up in drama quite easily. Likes: France, French bread, fancy cheeses, wine, Jacques Brel, tropical fish, flowers, sex, teaching, smoking, working out, clothes and fashion, Psychometry, his freelance work, romantic gestures, Dislikes: prudes, people goofing off in his class and not doing their homework, getting old, wrinkles, personal failure or feelings of uselessness, how short American vacations are, cell phones.
History: Dimitri was born and grew up in Marseilles, France. His father, Luc Renaud was a Frenchman and his mother Alisa Barbara came from Russia. The two met when they were very young. Alisa's family often vacationed in Marseilles where Luc lived and after multiple summers spent together they married when Luc was 18 and Alisa 16. Dimitri was born two years later and named after Alisa's father.
Dimitri had a pretty normal life and grew up pretty streetwise given the rough edge his red-roofed neighborhood had. He discovered his ability when he was eleven. His mother, who was also extremely religious, was sure he was possessed by a demon and kept him inside away from everyone else for almost a year, bringing in and out different religious figures to have a look at him. One such person was a emphatic priest who convinced the worried parents that if they surrendered Dimitri to him that he could cure him of his affliction. So, Dimitri left and was taken to a monastery in Bordeaux where he met a small group of about seventy five or so children and teenagers who also shared unique abilities. A small group of adult volunteers were also there to help teach the children to harness, control, and use their abilities safely.
Dimitri returned to his parents "cured" in three years. In actuality he had just learned to control his ability enough to the point that he could function in normal society. Still, for three months every summer he still traveled back to Bordeaux for regular "treatment". When he was eighteen he left Marseilles for good and moved to Bordeaux to concentrate more on controlling his ability as well as further study in a private university.
When Dimitri turned 23, he traveled to America to work as a French teacher on the east coast of the United States. It was during his time as a high school teacher in Maryland that on a run one day he came across the scene of a brutal homicide and was able to help the police solve it using his abilities. While they were generally disbelieving at first and he was almost taken in as a suspect, he managed to help locate the real criminal and ever since, on occasion, he has been approached by various men in suits for help on puzzling or seemingly unsolvable crimes.
When he was 25 he was discovered by the Headmaster and Headmistress of Zener who recognized his abilities and brought him to their school to continue his language instruction and also gave him the opportunity to help other young children the way he himself had been aided so many years ago.
